Shanghai Luminous, Huang Rongnan, 2011 上海夜光，黄荣楠 2011 Selected works
It’s the first time to publicly publish these works after almost seven years.
I have been staying in a skyscraper near Huang Pu river for a whole year from 2011 till 2012. I try different ways to observe the city, my second hometown – Shanghai, and then shoot all kinds of pictures, sunrise and sunset, infinite skyline and rushing people, whatever the weather is and whatever the time is.
The city we live is the biggest canvas, and also the city with bling bling neon lights is a light painting field just right for me to create these abstract photography works. So in my opinion, they are not my works, they belong to the city itself. I just shoot these pictures that she wants to tell us.
But I think she feels sad and depressed because of all these people living in her body over thousand years but still not any sense of guilts and qualms.
